  • Attend the “WOMAN IS GODDESS” 4-day retreat @ the SEED Lodge where you and 7 other women will take part in a shamanic photoshoot to bring your Goddess to life.

Many cultures in the world celebrated the feminine in her divine forms. Sadly much of this precious knowledge was buried through male dominated religions. Today many women are not familiar with the different Goddesses, yet there was a time when they were revered for their divine knowledge and power. Goddesses are archetypes and role-models for women in all aspects of her life: autonomy, creativity, power, intellect, spirituality, sexuality and relationships. Different Goddesses can be invoked at different times and different stages of life to give guidance, strength and wisdom.

What is Myth?

Myths are the stories with no beginnings or endings, which are created and re-created through their tellings. Timeless and precious, myths are born from the collective imagination.  When myths are told and enacted, they are enlivened. They touch upon what it means to be deeply human and to journey within both the light and the dark aspects of the living world.

Myths are like silent ageless sages, showing us another way to proceed, reminding us that: 

"What we seek often lies deeply within our own being.”

What is Magic?

Magic is the act of creation, the making or bringing forth of something into the world that wasn’t there before. Magic is an emergence, a blossoming that occurs any time we engage in a creative endeavour, that takes us far away from where we first began.

Myth & Magic

Myth & Magic is a creative process that was developed by photographer and artist, Marianne Larochelle 5 years ago when she began to ask the important questions:

  • What myths or stories do we live by? 

  • How many of these stories are enacted without us even being aware of it?

  • How many myths or stories are being lost because they are not remembered?

These questions fueled her new photographic series exploring the narratives of fairytales, mythologies and stories from around the world. As Marianne tried to find the links between the narratives, she noticed that many stories had been forgotten, changed, and important parts were omitted. 

She developed Myth & Magic as a response to this, inviting dreams, stories, and archetypal images to open the doors to the subconscious so that we could explore through embodied imagery (she calls shamanic photography), ALL parts of ourselves. Soon after, women started asking her if they could participate in her project. 

Marianne noticed that there was always a certain story that resonated from each person, behind whatever challenges they were facing in their lives currently. She witnessed how the women who worked with her, often coming from non artistic backgrounds, would be fully immersed into making their story come to life, their dormant creativity sparked by creating their costumes, designing the sets, exploring the characters through play, art making, singing and movement. Photography documented the process, and also served as a powerful alchemical tool to help them see and understand the hidden, forgotten, and sometimes very painful parts of themselves.

Marianne also observed how many women are out of touch with Goddess stories and archetypes, which are powerful guiding figures in a woman’s psyche and life. After completing the process, many women felt like they had shed some layers, had an opportunity to re-imagine themselves and had full permission to be who they truly are.

It's as if the myth I had chosen to explore has unlocked talents and powers that have always been inside myself, but that I was not aware of. Sharing my myth with the other participants brought me new insights into its meaning and into what it could bring me. Through that experience, hidden parts of me have been unveiled. The photo session at the end, where we get to incarnate an aspect of the myth has boosted my self esteem. This benefit from the workshop has positively impacted the other spheres of my life. Esther and Marianne have made me feel comfortable throughout the experience. They gave me the time I needed to integrate the discoveries about myself and unfold the "real me". I truly recommend this workshop!”

What is the commitment?

To maintain the intimacy and the container of the group, registration is limited to 8 people. When registering for this immersive process, you are making a commitment to show up, not only for yourself, but for the other group members as well. We will conduct a short 15 minute interview when you register to make sure that this process is a good fit for you at the moment and to answer any questions you may have. 

You agree to take part in the 4 zoom meetings (3 prior to the retreat and one after) and work on your own for a minimum of 2 hours/week (but if you feel inspired…and you will, you might find yourself doing more) to prepare for the big weekend. 

The photoshoot session will be held in the immersive retreat weekend held @the SEED Lodge, 2 hours north of Toronto. It is essential that you be present for this and make your arrangements for your own airfare and transport.

What does the process look like?

WOMAN IS GODDESS is a unique month-long journey designed for you to intimately know and connect to Goddess energy and celebrate you as a woman.

Preparation: 3 zoom calls are scheduled prior to the workshop and one post-workshop. 

Call #1: Thursday, April 17, 2025: 7-9pm EST: Introduction & Finding Your Goddess.

Call #2: Thursday, April 24, 2025: 7-9 pm EST: Knowing your Goddess & Telling her Story.

Call #3: Thursday, May 1, 2025: Becoming the Goddess & Imagining her World.

Our photoshoot and retreat weekend will be held from: Thursday, May 8 @7pm-Sunday May 11 @ 11am at the SEED Lodge (2 hours north of Toronto).

Call #4: Thursday, May 22, 2025: Post-Workshop Integration. 

What’s included:

    • Includes private room with shared bathrooms

    • 3 full meals/day

    • Snacks/drinks

    • Access to 56 acres of farm and forest/sauna/camp fires

    • Massage and Energy healing at additional rate

  • A professional photoshoot (includes professional hair, make up). Costumes and set decorations are the responsibility of the participant however we are here to help put your creative vision to life!

    You will get one 8×10 print of one photo and 10 additional digital images (all credits are attributed to the photographer)

  • 3 Pre-Retreat sessions are booked on zoom so that you can meet the group, as well as do the preparatory work that is required in order to attend the photoshoot.

    One post-retreat call for integration.

    Although these calls are not mandatory, it is highly suggested that you attend.

  • Imagine being able to share this process with a group of like-minded women.

  • The WOMAN IS GODDESS experience is eligible for psychotherapy coverage in the province of Quebec and Ontario. It can also be claimed as a medical expense for tax purposes.
